Autumn

There's a coolness now
Plants and flowers wither and bend
But the leaves come alive
If only for a moment in time.
The city is covered
In a blanket of reds, yellows and oranges
People shake out sweaters, jackets and pants
That have been in darkness all season.
These items are now welcomed
And are quickly put on
By bodies craving warmth
The warmth that they have become accustomed to.
Pumpkins are harvested
Before the cold does any damaged
These orange delights used for pies or decor
Comical and frightful faces are carved into them.
Mother Nature has yet again turned her mystical dial-
It's Autumn.
