Awakening
My skin warmly tingles as the sun kisses it
I squint my eyes against its welcoming glare
The city's landscape takes off its white winter
coat
To reveal the greyish beginnings of nature's
promise
of a new scenic beauty.
No more talk of polar vortex or ice storms
Shovels, winter boots and parkas are locked away
Light jackets are taken out from their tombs as
Bodies sigh in relief from the release from their
heavy coated shell.
Smiles now deepen as if the warmth has defrosted
the frowns
Faces break free from the scarves that mummified
them
Hands can now stretch without limitation
Feet can now walk (nay run) about without being
weighted down.
It's now time for winter to hibernate for spring
has awoken!
